The Icitabo Diary #18.5

We have been making even more fantastic progress this week at the Icitabo Project, and we have two pieces of great news for you in this special mid-week article!

Two of our project members, Mark Murphy and Joe Crimmins, along with one of our teachers Mr. O'Connor took part in the Runamuk Challeng obstacle race and we are very excited to bring you a reflection of the event from Mark himself which can be found below.

"Two of us from the Icitabo team took part in a sponsored muck run called the Runamuk Challenge on Saturday in order to fundraise for our project. This run although enjoyable was made tougher by the extreme weather we experienced in Ireland the previous week due to the so called "Beast From the East" .

Throughout this 5 kilometre run we encountered lakes with thick ice on either side of us and thick snow on the ground.

The wet weather also led to some of the fields being like bogs where muck was up to our knees. However we

pushed through and managed to come 8th and 11th overall in this race. We feel that this race was another huge step towards our project as it allowed us to raise another large sum of money to make sure our library is completed to the highest standard possible."

We have also received some great news from Pat Fanning all the way from Sables Nua. Our €1000 donation from the YSI Den was received, and will be put to use furnishing the library as soon as our shipping container arrives. A copy of the letter he sent us can be found below.

Once again, we would like to thank you all for your continued support,

~The Icitabo Team
