Once again, we have had a busy week with the Icitabo Project, and much was discussed on Thursday in our weekly meeting.
We are currently attempting to get in contact with Ms. Mary Robinson, President of Ireland from 1990 to 1997. Ms Robinson is very active in the Irish charity community and highly praised by Non-Governmental Organisations throughout the world, such as Oxfam and Amnesty International. We feel that the support of Ms. Robinson would be a fantastic aid for our organisation, and would hugely help spread awareness for our cause.
We are also currently researching physical structures we could use for the library in Sables Nua, and which would be easiest to maintain, most weather resilient, and most importantly, lowest in cost. the less money we have to spend on the library, the more we can donate to the teachers who would be staffing the library, and the procurement of books for the children.
Finally, we have made our first steps in learning Bemba, the local language of Kabwe. We have found a very useful online dictionary which contains day-to-day phrases which we could use when communicating with the children and local people!
