This week, there has been a lot of progress with the Icitabo Project. We held a meeting last Thursday with the previous group of students who were in Kabwe last year. We discussed their experiences in Kabwe, and any advice that may come in useful to us. We also spoke about items other than books which the children of Kabwe enjoy, which could be sent over with each consignment of books. The children's favourite items were sports equipment, especially hurling equipment, which the children loved!

We also received our first donation, a generous €50 from a donor who wished to remain anonymous. This is a fantastic milestone for us, as each and every donation brings us closer to our final goal of improving literacy in the youth of Kabwe!
Speaking of donations, we have received over 1300 children's books from various sources within our community. These books, (which are in English) range from the simplest Junior Infant reading material to intermediate and advanced books, making them perfect for both translation into Bemba as well as providing a method of progression for the children of Kabwe. We are very thankful for each and every book received, and hope there will be many more to come!
